Houston Upholstery was established in 1990 by a husband and wife team, Jane and Dan Dang. They opened a retail furniture store which developed into a full scale quality manufacturing furniture and reupholstery business with the help of their two daughters, Marie Dang and Nancy Dang. Mrs.Dang, Marie and Nancy are still working and aim to specialize in reupholstering antiques/ vintage furniture and building quality Made in the USA products. They owe their success to their loyal customers and skilled employees from carpenters, seamstress, upholsterers and sales staff.
A renovated building has been turned into a modern design center with great fabric selection and in-house interior design service.
Construction Made in America
All foams and filling materials will soften and conform to the shape of the users; this is considered normal use and is not a defect. Any defects in workmanship should appear within the first year of usage. Therefore, we are confident to warrant our seams to be free of defects due to faulty workmanship for a period of one year under normal residential care and use. Frame and spring construction is warranted to be free of defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for the lifetime of the product under normal residential care and use.
This warranty is only valid to the original owner with receipt/invoice as long as the furniture is upholstered in its original fabric. For slipcovered furniture, this is the fabric that covers the base of the piece. Wood furniture is made of naturally variable raw materials. Differences in grain character and color among wood species are naturally occurring variations and are not within the control of the manufacturer nor considered defects under this warranty. Natural color changes, exposure to extreme temperature changes and direct sunlight may cause color changes and/or surface damage and are not covered by this warranty.
Normal use is defined as sitting on the seat cushion (not on arms or back) and no tilting backwards where there is stress placed on rear legs. All frames are built for residential use only and is not intended to be stood on, jumped on, or bounced on. These repairs will not be under Houston Upholstery’s warranty.
Standard frames are built with high grade American oak hardwood with main supports and corner blocking. Wood is glued and high-pressure stapled with corner blocks. This system allows for structural integrity. Additional wood bracing is placed where needed in order to support spring tension and weigh distribution.
Legget and Platt made in the USA no-sag sinuous springs are used to provide comfortable seating. Springs are secured to the front and back of the frame with coated metal clips, prevents the rub of metal on metal; thus eliminating "squeakage". The springs are bound with paper-coated cross wires for even weight and shock absorption.
Standard high density 1.8 foam is used with a fibrous dacron wrap. Other inexpensive cushions have a low foam density and will flatten out. Houston Upholstery tries to provide the right amount of padding with enough resilience so that the cushions hold shape and at the same time provide maximum comfort level. Padding is used throughout the sofa/chair in critical places to give more aesthetic appeal and comfort. All corners and edges are padded, as well as any area that a user will actually contact. Bonded nylon upholstery thread is used to sew all cushions and seams. This thread has a higher heat tolerance than normal nylon thread. This ensures a long lasting tight seam and will be warranted for one year with normal use.
